How to restore a backed up moodle course

Now that the new Moodle server is up and running you can restore any backed up classes from the old server onto the new one.

  1. Login to the new server at http://moodle.fsd38.ab.ca
  2. Using the request course link on the main moodle page, request a new course for each backed up file (make sure to fire an email to Dianne Widney asking her to activate it).
  3. Once the courses have been activated, log into each and follow the following steps:
  • Click on the settings link under Administration and change the “Number of Weeks/Topics” to match the original course and click save.
  • Under Administration choose “Restore”
  • Choose Upload File.
  • Click browse to find your backup file.
  • Click upload.

Once the upload is complete, click the “Restore” button to the right of the file.

To help make this clearer, here’s an animation of me restoring a Moodle course… it is in two parts:

Part 2
