Restoring last year’s Moodle backup

Hi all,

Hope everyone had a great summer! I’ve had a number of requests for a tutorial on how to upload your backed up Moodle courses from last year.  I’ve attached a screencast here:

http://screencast.com/t/M2FiOWQ3ZTU

however the basic steps are as follows:

  1. Create a brand new moodle course using the link at the bottom of the main page.
  2. Once the new course has been activated, browse to it and click the “Restore” link on the Administration Panel.
  3. When prompted, upload your backup file.
  4. Click the “Restore” button to the right of the file once uploaded.
  5. Follow the instructions presented. You will be given a choice as to which resources/activities you’d like to restore as well as whether or not you’d like to upload last year’s student data.
  6. Serve and enjoy!

Cheers,
Doug
